One Week, Two Awesome Events

Last week was a busy one for both students and alumni of Concordia

Coffee with Cobbers was a special event that took place last Monday and served as a way for students to connect with alumni through informal conversations.

Concordia juniors and seniors received their long awaited Ring Day Celebration. This morning of recognition for all of their hard work and dedication was celebrated last Friday.

Coffee with Cobbers

Monday mornings are dreaded by most, which is why we decided to offer a way to put some pep in your step along with getting to chat with some awesome alumni.

Coffee with Cobbers was an event on campus that was designed to connect students with alumni through informal conversations and coffee.

Between the 40+ students and 4 amazing alumni, we went through 48 muffins, 2 gallons of coffee, and 1 gallon of apple cider. With the lovely winter weather rolling in this week, these numbers were not surprising. We can only imagine the number of conversations that were had with our alumni guests.

Overall, Coffee with Cobbers showed the value of connecting with our incredible alumni, who volunteer their personal time to help us students grow professionally and personally.

Cobber Ring Day

The Cobber Ring holds significant power, despite being that it's simply a ring, but to Concordia students, the Cobber Ring is a rite of passage.

There were some activities that took place around campus showcasing the significance of the Cobber Ring. One activity that students participated in was mapping out where they are from or where they would like to be as alumni. This gave a perspective of how many different countries Cobbers reside in globally. Currently, there are alumni in 78 different countries, with 86 residing in Norway, 125 in Canada, and 46 in Saudi Arabia, Ghana, and Singapore combined.

On Friday, Concordia students lined up to receive their official Concordia College Class Ring. Anyone who has social media was aware of this event, as there were hundreds of Instagram posts showcasing these fancy new rings.

The Cobber ring is proven to be powerful, recognizable, and valued by many graduates of Concordia College. The ring day tradition has been around for over a century, and has fostered connections and conversations among fellow alumni worldwide. We hope that this tradition will continue on for many years to come.
