Why Get Involved with SALT

What is SALT?

Cobber SALT, or Students + Alumni Linked Together, is a great organization to get involved on campus through different events and programs. We strive to "build lifelong college relationships and equip students to become engaged alumni." Through this mission, students create connections with alumni which can open many opportunities in the future.

Reasons to get involved:

1. Networking Opportunities

SALT provides students with networking opportunities that would not otherwise be possible. Through events like Careers Connecting Cobbers, Coffee with Cobbers, and Networking Untapped, students are able to learn first-hand the importance of networking and utilize those practices immediately. At all of these events, you'll find Cobbers of all ages and backgrounds who are there to help YOU develop in networking and learn how to create meaningful connections that can truly last a lifetime. Through the different events that SALT hosts throughout the year, there is a lot of opportunity to connect with people from all around the world.

2. Alumni Awareness & Donor Appreciation

SALT is known for making great connections with alumni and sharing the work of alumni with the student body. By learning more about Cobber alumni and the work that they have done in the world, you are able to open up doors that never would've been open previously. Cobbers are all around you and we hope to show you their good work so that you may be inspired to implement similar practices into your own life.

We also advocate for donor appreciation as an organization and show the work of donors all across our campus through events like Thanks Concordia, Cobbers for Cobbers, and Giving Day. Cobbers love to give back to our beloved campus community and we want to show our donors how grateful we are for them through these fun activities. For many of us, we are directly affected by donors and their charitable gifts.

3. Professional Development

Being apart of SALT means that you get extra practice in developing professional skills. Some of these skills include communication, marketing, and leadership. SALT hopes to foster an environment that allows you to grow as a professional in your role within our organization.

We have positions in our group that range from event planning, alumni relations, marketing, and leadership that all are great places to begin developing before entering the workforce. SALT members learn by doing because of their involvement in planning large-scale events for the campus community and building connections with alumni and organizers along the way.
