What We Do at SALT

Updated: Nov 11, 2021

The WHO, WHAT, and HOW of Cobber SALT.

We're fun! Even with masks...

However you may have come across our organization, you probably have some questions about who we are, what we do, and how we accomplish our goals. We hope to offer some insight about our organization.

The Who

SALT was formed by a few students who had a vision about connecting Cobbers of all ages through professional development opportunities, donor appreciation, and overall advancement in their lives. This organization of just a few students has grown to a organization of about 25 students that plan events with as many as 150 attendees. We are very thankful for all the support we have received from so many Cobbers throughout the years.

As a fairly young campus organization, we are continuously growing and adapting to the needs of our campus. We are a group of about 25 students who plan a variety of events throughout the year to connect students with alumni of the college and promote positive alumni relationships across campus.

The What

SALT plans many events throughout the year, each aligning with our mission statement. All of our events serve a different purpose but encompass our mission of connecting students and alumni.

With a core focus of connecting students and alumni, SALT strives to build lifelong college relationships and equip students to become engaged alumni through professional development opportunities, donor appreciation, and overall advancement in the personal and professional lives of our students.

Events like Careers Connecting Cobbers are focused on more of the professional side of our mission. At events like this, we offer students the opportunity to hear from an alumni about a relevant professional development topic, get headshots and resume advice, participate in career-specific breakout rooms, as well as practice their networking skills with alumni from all different career areas.

Events like Thanks Concordia and Cobbers for Cobbers aim to offer students the opportunity to engage with alumni and donors of the college through creative methods. Many of Concordia's students are able to attend our institution thanks to scholarships that are funded by donors and we allow students to show their appreciation in unique ways.

We also like to have some fun at SALT. We host many "fun" events throughout the year that are simply ways for students to network with each other and learn more about their community. During Orientation in the fall, we host S'mores with SALT. This is a great way for incoming students to meet one another and celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. We also love to help celebrate students in receiving their Cobber Rings on Ring Day each year.

One of our absolute favorite events during the year is Project Linus shortly before holiday break. We connect with local children in need by making tie blankets alongside alumni of all ages. It's a great day of service accompanied with some holiday treats and some Christmas caroling if that's your thing.
