Updated: Nov 11, 2021

Name: Alexandre Cyusa

Graduation Year: 2014

Major: Communications and Spanish

Please tell us a bit about yourself:

I arrived at Concordia in 2010, where I received degrees in Communications and Spanish. In December of 2019, I received my M.A. in Strategic Communication from NDSU. My mother worked for UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) from 1992 to 2017, making him a Third Culture Kid (TCK). Originally I'm from Rwanda, I have lived in Switzerland, Ethiopia, Guinea, and France as well. My traveling experiences have helped me see the world as a smaller, simpler place to live. I'm active in the Fargo Moorhead area in events like the Red River Market, and Folkways.org.

What do you currently do for work?

Currently, I work at the Fargo Jet Center on the International Business Development team.

What advice do you have for current students about entering the workforce?

Get internships as soon as you can, it is a great way to get your foot in the door and to experience the culture of a company.

How has your Concordia education aided you so far in your career journey?

Concordia has a great network of alumni and mentors in the region. They have always helped me gain access to golden career opportunities.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Volunteer in the FM area. By doing so, you enter the world of community engagement and often you'll cross paths with well rounded community members. These people can become life long mentors, friends, and even future employers.
